Make Fundraising Fun and keep it simple. This will give you a fundraiser that works well and huge success.
This
is probably the most important thing about any fundraising event. If you are
not making it fun for the group and motivating them, then the outcome of the
fundraiser will probably not meet your expectations.
You are
the organizer, so make it your responsibility that the group enjoys the
event and participates.
Incentive
prizes. This is a great way to get the troops rallied and fired up. If your
group can afford a few small prizes to the top performers, this will give
them some additional motivation.
The
goal. Make sure you meet with the group preferably face to face and explain
to them in a simple way, why you are planning a fundraiser, what the final
goal of the fundraiser is and how it is going to help each participant.
Believe it or not, this is often overlooked or not explained to the group
and they end up not understanding and participating. This is usually done in
a few minutes and then you can let them ask any questions.
Before
you pick a fundraiser with a group that you feel may be difficult to
motivate or reluctant to participate, maybe you could give them a few
different options in terms of which fundraiser they would have the most fun
with. You could also ask them if they could come up with some really cool
creative ideas that they think would help the fundraiser and see if the
group agrees to any of the ideas. Basically, getting them involved and
buying into the idea for the fundraiser will boost the success enormously.
We all know how much we like it as adults when someone shoves something on
us without ever letting us have any input.... need we say more.
Maybe
with kids that are a little shy, they could partner up with another kid in
the group. This removes the fear of doing it on their own and lets them work as a mini team together.
If you are running a cookie dough fundraiser, maybe preparing a batch of cookies for
the fundraising meeting would be a good idea. Let them try the product. If
they like the cookies, it will be easier for them to ask donors to purchase,
since they believe in the product. Cookies and milk to kick off the
campaign!!! Even adults will enjoy this.
If you are doing a car wash, you can have a theme like dressing in 70's type
of clothing. It attracts attention, since you are making it different.
Participants will have a lot of laughs while doing it. Throw in a gift for
best costume. It doesn't have to be a big gift to be effective. A movie pass
is enough. People are more interested in the recognition than the prize, but
a small gift is a nice token of appreciation.

LUCK and Have Fun
